Abstract

These Regulations require the owner of a dam that is associated with the production of electricity to prepare a mercury monitoring plan in accordance with the Regulations if a) immediately before the day this Regulation comes into force, the dam was the subject of a permit issued under section 34.1 of the Ontario Water Resources Act (issue or renewal of water taking permit) and (b) the permit referred to in clause (a) included requirements for the measurement, monitoring or reporting of total mercury or methyl mercury in water or fish. The Plan is reviewed and approved by the Minister.
