Abstract This Law provides for the establishment of the Mongla Port Authority. For the purposes of this Act, the boundaries of the Port of Mongla, prescribed under the Mongla Port Authority Ordinance, 1976 (Ordinance No. LIII of 1976), shall be deemed to be the boundary of the Port of Mongla and shall remain so as if it had been determined under this Act and the Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, change or alter the boundary from time to time. The port limit referred to in sub-section (1) may be extended to any part of the shipping route, to any part of the shipping route, to any part of the sea, to the river, to the banks of the river or to the adjacent land, and to any kind of dock, pier, shed or in the public interest, to the movement of ships, to the safety of the ship, or to the development, conservation or proper port operation of the port, or other activities relating to the operation of the port or the river and its proper port. Subject to the protection of private property rights, the port shall have control over the land, bank, land or any part of the land located within 50 meters of the high tide line.
