As a general principle, appropriate institutions and mechanisms shall be established for conservation and sustainable use, and to regulate access to resources and fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from their use. All policy or programmatic measures or private actions designed, promoted or adopted nationally shall fundamentally be informed by an approach that treats indigenous farm animal genetic resources as public good.
