Abstract

This chapter of South Dakota Codified Laws concerns Missouri River development. It provides that cooperation with other governmental agencies in promotion and development, and authority of Governor; disbursement of funds; improving navigation on Missouri river, and expenditure of funds by counties upon voter approval, and appropriations; settlement of state claim relating to Pick-Sloan Missouri Basin Program authorized, damages and obligations enumerated; settlement framework--Short-term objectives; long-term objectives; authorization of additional future projects not precluded; Missouri River cost recovery program established as part of settlement and use of revenue; legislative finding as to Missouri River cost recovery program, and authorized as preferred, priority state objective; Missouri River cost recovery authority established, recommendation of options by authority, and limits on recommended options; composition of authority, chairman, submission of recommendations, and dissolution; expenses of members, staff services, payment of expenses incurred; and governor authorized to negotiate, make agreements, with federal government.
