Abstract

There is hereby established a Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries which shall be placed under the control of the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. The principal functions of the Department are: (a) to promote and encourage the development of all phases of agricultural, pastoral, horticultural, marine resources and fishing industries; (b) to promote and encourage the growing of bananas, citrus, copra, pineapples and other fruit, vegetables, and the raising of livestock and poultry; and (c) to increase production and promote marketing of such products. The Minister may delegate powers to the Secretary of Agriculture and Fisheries appointed under the present Act. Powers of the Minister include conclusion of agreements for the growing of seeds. The Minster may establish advisory and technical committees. (17 sections)
