Abstract

This Resolution consisting of 10 articles aims at protecting the environment by providing for the rules to be followed by (i) the facilities authorized by the Ministry of Environment and Water to import, export and re-export pesticides; (ii) the companies authorized by the competent local authority to operate in the field of pest control; and (iii) the companies authorized by the competent local authority for collecting, transporting and disposing of damaged pesticides and their containers. The rules regard registration of damaged pesticides; storage of damaged pesticides and their containers avoiding any possible environmental damage; transport according to measures adopted for the transport of harmful substances according to the Environmental Law No.24 of 1999 and its Implementing Regulation. Their elimination is possible by either burning or exporting out of the country the damaged pesticides. It is prohibited to import damaged pesticides or trade in them for disposal. The Resolution prescribes re-export to the exporting country the damaged pesticides imported and gives measures to be adopted for the empty containers.
