Abstract This Ministerial Order approves the Regulation on pesticides in order to improve plant cultivation and to protect human health. It consists of 14 chapters establishing that pesticides to be imported, produced, traded and used within the Mozambican territory must satisfy sanitary requirements and be registered by the competent authority (I.N.I.A.). The Regulation is divided as follows: Pesticide definition and involved items (Chap. 1); Registration and requirements to be satisfied for obtaining a pesticide use authorization (2); Pesticide imports (3); Storage requirements (4 and 5); Pesticide trade (6); Transport (7); Labelling and packaging (8 and 9); Pesticide elimination and classification of toxicity (10 and 11); Maximum residue limits in food (12); Controls and sanctions (13); Final provisions (14).
