Abstract This Ministerial Order approves the National Programme for Water Supply and Rural Water Sanitation (PRONASAR). This National Programme, consisting of 8 Sections, 9 Annexes and several Tables, is an joint effort between the Government of Mozambique and Development Agencies, Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs), the private sector, community members and other stakeholders at central, provincial, district and local level. It aims at accelerating water supply systems and water sanitation in the rural environment in order to reach the Millennium Development Goals (70% of water supply and 50% of water sanitation in the rural environment) to contribute to the basic human needs, to improve the well-being and to reduce the rural poverty, through the increasing of use and access to water supply and sanitation services.
