This Ministerial Order enters into force on 1 January and expires on 15 March 2024.
Abstract

This Ministerial Order, under Law No. 22/2013, establishes the effective prohibition on surface shrimp fishing, in the period from January 1, 2024 to March 14, 2024, in the entire area between the mouth of the Limpopo River and the Quissico Lighthouse, delimited by the points defined by the coordinates following geographic locations, Point A: 25º 16'S and 33º 20'E; Point B: 25º 25’S and 33º 20’E; Point C: 25º 00’S and 35º 00’E; Point D: Farol and Quissico. The effective prohibition period applies exclusively to the following fishing vessels, fishing gear, fish transport and establishments: a) gill net known as “chithamuthamo”; b) purse-seine to land and onboard trawl nets (manual and motor); c) bottom gillnets; d) wholesale and retail fish sale establishments; e) vehicles and other means used to transport fish; f) fish processing establishments; g) all fishing vessels used to capture surface shrimp.
