Abstract

This Ministerial Order establishes the closed season for mangrove crab fishing throughout Mozambique's coastal zone, from 1 November 2022 to 31 December 2022, for all fishing operators who carry out the activity of capturing and collecting mangrove crab. Processing establishments that handle, process and sell mangrove crabs within the national territory are prohibited from acquiring, transporting, selling, manipulating or processing mangrove crabs, from production and collection, in the period between 1 November 2022 to 31 December 2022. For this purpose, companies and fishing operators must submit to the competent local Fish Inspection authorities a declaration of the existence of raw material and final product by 31 October 2022. The closed season applies extensively to all fishing gear accessible to mangrove crab and to wholesale and retail fish sales markets.
