Abstract The Decree defines the various water uses and establishes the kind of works and activities for the exploitation of water resources for which a permit is required. The Decree also distinguishes categories on water use permits and lays down the procedures, terms, and accompanying documentation for obtaining such permits. The uses of water for which an authorisation is required are the water supply in general, the use in agriculture (including irrigation), the industrial use, the use for energy production, as well as the use for recreation (article 10, paragraph 1, Law 3199/2003). The above uses are reported analytically in the attached Annex I to this Decree. Annex II lays down the works and activities for water resources exploitation; Annex III provides the Module for applying for a water permit. Annexes IV and V and VI list down, respectively, the accompanying documentation required for issuing a permit for water supply, waterworks and hydropower generation waterworks.
