Abstract

This Ministerial Decree establishes safety requirements for eggs and egg-based products produced on the national territory and imported thereto and destined for alimentary purposes. Safety requirements shall be related to processing, trade, recycling and destruction of eggs and egg-based products. It shall not be applicable to eggs produced in households and homemade egg-based products destined for personal consumption, infant and dietary food, food additives and incubation eggs. Identification of the products for compliance with the established standards shall be carried out through the analysis of documentation, inspection of labelling and packaging, and by laboratory analysis and product testing. Eggs and egg-based products circulation on the national territory shall comply with technical standards and shall be accompanied by the documentation attesting quality and safety thereof (veterinary certificate and compliance declaration).
