Abstract

The Service of Hygiene of Food and Nutrition is divided in two functional areas: the Area for the control of Hygiene of Foodstuffs and Beverages, and the Nutritional Area. The Area for the control of Hygiene of Foodstuffs and Beverages shall verify the compliance with the health norms of all the stages of production and distribution of food and beverages. The Service will also be involved in the check of suspect cases of infection and intoxication from foodstuffs, protection of potable waters, supervision of plant protection products and in the prevention from mushrooms intoxication. The Nutritional Area shall collect epidemiological data and data on the alimentary habits and shall also contribute to the diffusion of knowledge of good nutrition principles. The Service shall give consultancy on nutrition to the personnel of catering services and consultancy on dietetic principals for medical therapy.
