Abstract The Government, for the purpose of conservation of the species of Amur tiger for ensuring of carrying out the commitments of the Russian Federation originating from the Convention on biodiversity of 1992, decrees as follows: 1). To validate Federal Special Program (FSP) “Conservation of Amur tiger”. 2). To determine State Environmental Committee state customer of the aforesaid Program. 3). To authorize State Environmental Committee in accordance with other Federal Executive Bodies and the administration of Far East and Khabarovsk Territories to conduct negotiations with international and Russian organizations concerned as regards their participation in the financial support of the arrangements of the present Program. The purpose and the task of the Program are to preserve on the territory of the Russian Federation of the population of Amur tiger possessing vital capacity, to preserve from destruction natural habitat of Amur tiger, to maintain in their natural habitat the indispensable number of wild hoofed animals and to create a system of protected areas. The Program must be carried out in two stages: I stage covers the period of 1998-2000, II stage covers the period of 2001-2003. The document consists of V Sections and contains the passport of the Program. Section I outlines the contents of the problem. Section II determines the main purposes, tasks, periods and stages of carrying out Program. Section III concerns the system of programmed arrangements. Section IV deals with financial support of the Program. Section V determines the mechanism of carrying out the Program and control over its fulfilment. Full text Russian
