Federal Nuclear Supervision is posted under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Industry and Energy. Federal Nuclear Supervision is entitled to carry out the following functions : 1) organization and carrying out within its sphere of competence state survey over safety in the process of use of nuclear energy, handling of nuclear materials, nuclear substances and nuclear waste; 2) state survey over the observance of the requirements of normative legal acts in the sphere of use of nuclear energy; 3) licensing of the activities in the sphere of use of nuclear energy; 4) expertise of materials submitted by the applicant as regards their conformity to safety requirements; 5) issuing authorizations to the workers of nuclear sites for carrying out work in the sphere of the use of nuclear energy; 6. organization and ensuring functioning of the control systems over the use of nuclear energy in case of emergencies.
