This Ministerial Decree establishes the modalities for establishing the width of the protective forest belt along the shorelines of rivers, lakes, water reservoirs and other waterbodies. The protective forest belt shall be considered part of public forest adjoining the aforesaid water bodies, with restrictions on forest management in order to conserve water resources, prevent water pollution and siltation, and conserve the natural habitats of wildlife species. The width of the protective forest belt shall be established by the authorized forest institution in the process of forest organization and management, and shall take into consideration physical, geographic, soil, hydrological and other conditions, fisheries requirements and forest management projects.
