Protected fishery water areas may be established in the inland waters, continental shelf and EEZ of the Russian Federation. Protected fishery water areas shall not be established on the territory of state biosphere reserves, national parks and state nature reserves of the federal significance. The dimensions, boundaries and special terms and conditions of management shall be established with the consideration of value and stock composition of aquatic biological resources and by results of state monitoring of aquatic biological resources and scientific research. Federal Fisheries Agency shall establish criteria and modalities of the biological substantiation set for the establishment of protected fishery water areas.
