Abstract

This Ministerial Decree applies to bottled potable water produced, processed and traded on the national territory, including natural mineral water, spring water, water of denominated origin, still water and purified water. This Ministerial Decree shall also apply to natural mineral water, spring water and groundwater extracted and bottled in third countries recognized by the system of technical regulation of Kazakhstan. It shall not apply to medicinal water, distilled water or beverages. Analysis of potential risks to human health shall be carried out at all stages of the water product’s production cycle, starting from its origin. Bottled potable water may be authorized for trade if it meets the safety requirements established by this Ministerial Decree. Trade of bottled potable table water and purified water shall be prohibited if the label contains misleading information that associates the product with natural mineral water, spring water, or water of denominated origin or geographical area. Bottled water shall be destroyed if: (a) its expiration date has passed; (b) harmful to human health; (c) defective; or (d) adulterated.
