Abstract This Decree sets forth rules to determine the minimum requirements for the protection of individuals from exposure to ionizing radiation and to ensure the safety of radiation sources. These Regulatory Principles apply to all practices that involve exposure to ionizing radiation: use of x-rays in medical or industrial or agricultural purposes; extraction and processing of radioactive materials; presence of natural sources of ionizing radiation. These Regulatory Principles do not apply to: the presence of potassium 40 in the body, the cosmic radiation on the Earth’s surface, the radiation from radionuclide in raw materials. It is forbidden to adopt, introduce, suspend, or end any operation or business using radioactive sources without obtaining the approval from the competent authority.
