The Fisheries Committee attached to the Ministry of Agriculture is authorized to distribute the aforesaid quotas among economic entities. The quotas regard the Caspian Sea, the Aral Sea, the Balkhash lake and internal water bodies. The modalities of fisheries for scientific research purposes shall be determined by the authorized institution. Only 2% of the total allowable catch set for each single water body can be allocated for scientific research, inspection and fish farming purposes. Other water bodies for which fishing quotas are established are lakes, estuaries, ponds and others of the area from 15 to 100 hectares with the maximum depth of 2 metres.
