Abstract

This Resolution consists of 27 articles. Article 1 gives terms and definitions. All imported animals, meats, animal products, animal feed, animal biological preparations, etc. shall be subject to the provisions of this Implementing Regulation (art. 2). Applications for licences shall be submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fish Resources. All imported live animals and birds, meats, animal products, animal feed, animal biological preparations and animal residues shall be put under quarantine in order to carry out the necessary analyses and controls (art. 4). Imported live animals and birds, meats, animal products, animal feed, animal biological preparations and animal residues shall have a sanitary certificate issued by the Veterinary Authority of the country of origin (art. 5). Articles 6 to 8 deal with measures to be taken against animals in case of appearance or suspicion of contagious diseases. Articles 11 to 13 pertain to transportation means and transportation costs of animals to the quarantine centres. The importation and exportation of equines shall be subject to international rules and regulations (art. 15). Article 16 defines requirements for the importation of liquid semen, embryos and hatching eggs. Article 17 prohibits the importation of serums, vaccines and any biological materials without previous authorizations. All live animal consignments and animal products in transit shall be subject to the control and inspection by veterinary surgeons (art. 21). Article 23 contains offences and penalties. Article 26 defines fees and royalties for quarantine services.
