Abstract

This Ministerial Decree establishes the modalities for declaring an ecological disaster and for the delimiting and classifying the disaster area. Areas of ecological disaster shall be classified according to degree of degradation. The purposes of declarations of ecological disaster shall be: (a) delimitation of its boundaries; (b) assessment of the ecological state of the territory; (c) valuation of damage and of the possibility of recurrence; and (d) adoption of measures for the mitigation of consequences. The Ministerial Decree establishes criteria and indices for declarations of ecological disaster.
