Abstract The present Decree establishes the form for the oil pollution prevention Certificate. The Certificate is issued under the provisions of the international Convention MARPOL 73/78 (Law No. 1269/1982 and Presidential Decree No. 479/1984). The Certificate is to verify that at the annual and intermediate surveys required, according to the requirements of Regulation 4 (Annex I) of the Convention and article 3 of Presidential Decree No. 479/1984, the ships and oil tankers are found to comply with the relevant provisions of the aforementioned legal instruments. With this Certificate will be provided obligatorily oil-tankers of 150 tons gross tonnage and above which sail national navigation routes and those ships of 100 tons but less than 400 tons gross tonnage, regardless the type of navigation route (national or international) they sail.
