Abstract

A Decree establishing that the name "Makedonicos Topikos Oinos" shall be reserved for dry, semi-dry, semi sweet white, rose or red wines produced by the traditional methods in the region of Macedonia, provided they fulfil the specific requirements prescribed by the present Decree. For dry, semi-dry, semi sweet white wines: they are produced by the so-called "RODITIS", "ATHIRI" and "ASIRTIKO" local grape varieties. All varieties must come from the very same vinicultural zone "PLAGIES MELITONA" and they must not exceed the 70% of the total percentage of the wine's components. The mixture of such varieties must take place within the Macedonian region; grape cranes used for the transport from vineyards to distilleries must not exceed the 25 kg of capacity; the temperature of the alcoholic fermentation can not exceed the 20 C; the alcohol grade of such white wines should not be inferior of 10 % VOL. but it can not exceed the 12 % VOL. For rose and red wines the requirements are alike.
