Keyword Protected area Ecosystem preservation Geographical area CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), Eastern Europe, Europe, Europe and Central Asia Abstract The purpose of setting up the State biosphere reserve “Sporovskiy” shall be the conservation of marsh and meadow area, forests with rich wildlife, stabilization of hydrological regime of the territory, conservation of sustainable fish stocks, aquatic animals, aquatic plants and the rational use thereof. The following activities shall be prohibited: (1) land reclamation and any other activity causing modification of the natural landscape and the existing hydrological regime; (2) destruction of shrubbery; (3) disturbance of soil; (4) extraction of peat except for limited specified areas; (5) timber extraction except for sanitary felling; (6) hunting except for the Sporovskiy lake area; (7) mowing in the area of growing of rare and endangered plants; (8) clearing of riverside natural and water growths; (9) discharge of sewage and domestic waste into waterbodies.
