Abstract

This Ministerial Decree establishes that the State Committee on Environmental Protection shall be the authorized state institution in the sphere of environmental protection and nature management. The main tasks of the Committee shall be: (a) state supervision over environmental protection, management and reproduction of natural resources; (b) interdepartmental coordination of environmental protection; (c) elaboration and implementation of common energy saving policy; and (d) improvement of environmental situation. The Committee shall carry out the following functions: (a) elaboration and validation of environmental standards, rules and regulations, and also registration of natural resources; (b) pollution control; (c) validation of maximum allowable limits of emissions and discharge of pollutants; (d) environmental audit; (e) environmental monitoring; and (e) management of protected areas.
