Abstract

These Veterinary Rules for keeping honey bees for the purpose of their reproduction, raising, trade and use for pollination of agricultural entomophilic plants and obtaining of beekeeping products establish requirements for the conditions of keeping by citizens, including in personal subsidiary, farms, peasant (private) farms, and legal entities (farms and beekeepers) of honey bees, as well as the requirements for the implementation of bee quarantine measures, mandatory preventive measures and diagnostic tests on bees. Beekeeping must be carried out in good beehives, painted in different colors (blue, orange, yellow and green), on an apiary it is necessary to have a reserve beehive and a cellular frame (not less than 10% of the total quantity). Bees in the North Caucasus and the Urals may be kept in fixed and mobile pavilions with beehives built into them, which are at the same time winterizers. When keeping bees in the pavilions, processing of beekeeping products, storage of empty cellular frames, honeycombs with honey and bee bread, bee products and beekeeping inventory, disinfectants must be performed in pavilions. On beekeeping grounds shall be located: (a) site for disinfection of apiaries, cellular frames, packages and beekeeping inventory; (b) closed pit for wastewater; and (c) toilet room for beekeepers. Hives belonging to the farm should be numbered. The distance between beehives shall ensure free access to each a bee family and, in case of application of the means of mechanization, the passage of the aforesaid mechanical means. Placement of apiaries and hives when taking bees to honey gathering should to be carried out with the consideration of the norms of beekeeping on entomophilic plant species according to the Annex.
