It shall include monitoring of atmospheric air, land, forests, waterbodies, wildlife species, the Baikal lake, continental shelf, EEZ, internal sea and territorial sea of the Russian Federation, and also subsoil monitoring. The Ministry of Natural Resources and other federal executive bodies shall carry out the following functions: (a) organization and functioning of the state system of observations over the state of environment; (b) coordination with the regional authorities of environmental (ecological) monitoring; and (c) data collection, processing, reporting and formation of state information resources on the state of environment and natural resources management.
