Abstract

This Ministerial Decree establishes as state priorities: (a) the improved and expedited selection, seed growth and variety renewal (b) the introduction of new high-yield varieties of rice; and (c) the creation of an efficient system for seed production under various climatic and soil conditions. Seed production farms shall be authorized to sell cash grain (rice) for state procurement only after the procurement and storage of seeds. The Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources shall assess and register annually the yearly demand for rice seeds, and shall communicate that information to seed production farms. It shall also control the procurement, cleaning, sorting, calibration, certification, storage and trade of seeds, ensuring the purity of varieties and the quality of planting materials.
