Control over the execution of these Veterinary Rules shall be performed in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation in the field of veterinary medicine. It shall be forbidden to keep swine in open-type farms in places of former slaughterhouses and sewage treatment facilities. The territory of the farm must be fenced off by means that ensure that wild animals cannot enter the farm (except for birds and small rodents). In the farm, swine must be kept in a closed area or under sheds, which excludes contact of swine with other animals and birds. Use of mouldy and/or frozen bedding to keep swine on the farm shall be prohibited. Swine imported into the farm or exported (except for slaughtering animals) from the farm are subject to separate keeping from other groups of swine kept in the farm for the purpose of veterinary measures (quarantine). The quarantine period must be not less than 30 calendar days from the moment of arrival of swine in the farm. During the quarantine period, clinical examination of animals, diagnostic tests and treatments are carried out as provided for in the plans of diagnostic tests, veterinary and prophylactic and anti-epizootic measures, of the bodies (institutions) included in the system of the state veterinary service of the Russian Federation for the current calendar year (Plan of anti-epizootic measures).
