Abstract

The Convention on Wetlands of International Importance Especially as Waterfowl Habitat (Ramsar, 1971) has been implemented by Italy by adopting Presidential Decree No. 448 of 13 March 1976. Pursuant to article 2 of the Convention, each contracting party shall designate suitable wetlands within its territory for inclusion in a List of Wetlands of International Importance. On this basis, the present Decree designates the “Oasi del Sele-Serre Persano” to be a Wetland of International Importance. The wetland, whose boundaries are shown in the planimetry attached to the Decree, represents a significant habitat, and particularly a rest site, in respect of the bird species listed out in the Preamble.
