Abstract This Ministerial Decision is composed of 8 articles. The administration of Jebel Samhan Nature Reserve in the Governorate of Dhofar is to enter into force according to the plan drawn up by the Ministry (art. 1). No admission to the Reserve or camping or overnight stay is permitted except after obtaining written permission issued by the Ministry (art. 2). Article 3 provides exemptions to the provisions of article 2, such as individuals of the Sultan’s forces, the Royal Omani Police, employees commissioned to carry out official functions, and the population of the Reserve. Article 4 bans harm or disturbance to wildlife, the cutting of trees or vegetation and damaging vegetation. Likewise, no collecting of seeds is allowed. Harm to nesting birds inside the reserve is not permitted, nor is it permitted to disturb them, approach them, or touch, remove or collect their eggs. No introduction of cats, dogs, or any animals, plants or seeds are allowed within the Reserve. All who contravene the provisions of this decision are to be fined no less than 200 Riyals and no more than 1000 Riyals. Additional fines are imposed on repeat offenders (art. 7).
