Abstract

This Ministerial Decision provides for executing measures of the European Regulation (EC) 1069/2009 concerning health rules on animal by-products and derived products not intended for human consumption. The Decision focuses on: establishment of dead animal management programmes, concerning the collection, identification, transport, processing, use or disposal of whole dead or killed animals or their parts; protection from infectious diseases originating from dead animals or their parts; removal of dead stray animals from public roads, fields or other common spaces; removal and transport of dead wild animals, suspected of being infected by a disease that can be transmitted to humans or animals; dead or dying animals, suspected of being infected by the rabies virus, in accordance with the provisions of the Rabies Surveillance and Control programme in Greece; dead cattle, goats and sheep containing special risk materials, in the context of the Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (TSE) surveillance, control and eradication programme; responsible authorities in charge of managing and executing the programmes, including veterinary services; financing of the programmes.
