Abstract This Ministerial Decision is composed of 9 articles. The management of the Daymaniyat Islands Reserve is to be carried out according to the plan drawn up by the Ministry (art. 1). No admission to the reserve is permitted except after obtaining written permission issued by the Ministry, permitting camping for a maximum of 12 people or 5 tents per location specified by the Ministry and obtaining permits in accordance with art. 2. Those exempted from this include individuals of the Sultan’s forces, the Royal Omani Police, and the population that live within the Reserve. Lights and fires must be minimized and may be lit in certain designated places (art. 4). No disturbance to marine life or coral is allowed. Likewise, no harm is permitted to turtles or nesting birds in the Reserve, nor is anyone to approach them, disturb them, touch their eggs, collect them or move them (art. 5). Cats, dogs, or any other animal, plants or seed must not be introduced (art. 6). The storage, drying, and repair of fishing equipment must be done away from nesting areas (art. 7). All who contravene the provisions of this decision will be fined no less than 50 Riyals and no more than 300 Riyals. Additional fines are imposed on repeat offenders (art. 8).
