Abstract

This Ministerial Decision, consisting of 7 articles, establishes a closed-season for shrimp fisheries within the Maputo Bay. In order to ensure the preservation of fish stocks, and in view of the need to establish, at the estuary of the Limpopo River a closed-season for shrimp fishing for the year 2016 under article 14 of Law No. 22/2013 and article 9 of Decree No. 43/2003, establishes the following: 1. closed-season for shrimp fishing in the Bay of Maputo, in the south and west of a line joining Cape Inhaca and Ponta da Macaneta in the period from 1 January to 28 February 2016, included. 2. The fish products processing establishments handling and process are banned to purchase, transport, handle or process new lots of shrimps in the period 1 January to 28 February 2016. The closed-season applies extensively to the following motor-powered fishing vessels and fishing gear: a) semi-industrial trawling fishing vessels; b) drag artisanal fishing vessels; c) gillnet called "chitlhamutlhamo".
