Abstract

The present Act lays down provisions relating to mining in Quebec. The Act contains at the outset a definition clause relating to various terms employed therein such as “brine”, “mineral substances”, “natural gas”, “petroleum”, “surface mineral substances”, “well head value”, etc. The text consists of 382 sections divided into 6 Parts as follows: Ownership of rights in or over mineral substances and underground reservoirs (II); Mining rights of the domain of the state (III); General provisions (IV); Governing persons carrying on mining activities (IV); Inspection (V); Inquiry (VI).
