Abstract

This Act regulates mining activities in India. It consists of 33 sections and 3 Schedules. Sections 4 to 9 contain provisions on prospecting mining licences and mining leases, restrictions on the grant of licences and leases, royalties in respect of mining leases. An application for a prospecting licence or a mining lease in respect of any land in which the minerals vest in the Government shall be made to the State Government and shall be accompanied by the prescribed fee (sects. 10 to 12).
