Abstract

This Act amends the Mines and Minerals Act so as to: (a) subject the provisions in a development agreement to the law; (b) provide for the exclusion of fiscal terms from a development agreement; (c) clarify the provisions regarding relief from customs and excise duties which apply to holders of mining rights; (d) increase the mineral royalty on base metals; and (e) provide for the grant of a mineral processing licence to a person involved solely in mineral processing operations.
