Abstract

This Act vests the property of all minerals, including mineral oil and radioactive minerals in Crown and stipulates that no person shall prospect for or mine any minerals except by authority of a licence granted by the Governor and in accordance with the terms and conditions specified in such licence. The Act also prohibits prospecting or mining within close range of a building and requires the holder of any licence granted under this Act intending to prospect or mine on any lands to notify the owner and occupier of such land before commencing operations thereon. The Act also concerns compensation for any disturbance of surface rights and for any damage done to the surface of the land or to any live or dead stock, crops, trees, buildings or works by mining operations.
