Abstract

This Methodical Instruction sets basic hygienic requirements for the organization of treatment of effluent waste water by ultraviolet irradiation. It shall be applicable to all domestic, urban and surface effluent waste water. This Methodical Instruction shall serve as guidelines for state executive bodies and local self-government in the process of carrying out sanitary supervisions over functioning of ultraviolet treatment installations. The main factors that influence the efficiency of effluent waste water treatment by ultraviolet irradiation shall be: (a) sensibility of various microorganisms to ultraviolet irradiation; (b) power level of ultraviolet irradiation sources; (c) degree of absorption of ultraviolet irradiation by effluent waste water; and (d) composition of effluent waste water subject to ultraviolet irradiation.
