It also provides for an early warning system and for meteorology in a national and international context. As for international obligations of Tonga, the Director of the Tonga Meteorological Servicemay, in consultation with the Government Chief Executive Officer responsible for meteorology, appoint a Hydrological Adviser who shall advise the permanent representative with respect to WMO activities in operational hydrology and water resources, in accordance with WMO Regulations. The Department shall, among other things, liaise and coordinate with relevant authorities, including any person or persons of any organisation, to provide meteorological and ocean information for the purpose of disaster risk reduction and response to climate change, and any other related matters under this Act or any other Act.
