Abstract

Any person who: (a) imports any quantity of mercury into the country; or (b) has in his possession or buys, sells or transfers any mercury, except under licence issued by the secretary of Trade under section 2, shall be guilty of an offence in accordance with section 1. Unauthorised buying or transferring of mercury is prohibited under section 3. Small-scale gold miners shall observe good mining practices and shall be exempted from purchasing restrictions as far as mercury necessary for mining operations is concerned. The Court may cancel mercury licenses pursuant to section 6.
