In part they also apply to platforms. The Regulations require an appropriate certificate (a Bermuda Air Pollution Prevention Certificate or an International Air Pollution Prevention Certificate in the sense of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships 1973) to be issued for ships to which these Regulations apply and concern issue of certificates by Bermudan authorities and issue of certificates by foreign authorities. They also provide for standards and rules for the emissions (Nitrogen oxides, Sulphur oxides, volatile organic compounds), shipboard incineration and the use of fuels.
