Abstract

These Regulations amend the Merchant Shipping (Prevention of Air Pollution from Ships) Regulations 2015 in provisions concerning, among other things, the International Energy Efficiency Certificate in the form as set out in Annex VI of Appendix VIII of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL), emission abatement methods and recording in the ship’s logbook. The Minister may on application in writing by the owner of a ship, grant permission for the ship to use emission abatement methods on specified conditions. The Chief Marine Surveyor shall take on certain duties under the Convention that were previously assigned to the Minister.
