These Regulations, made by the Minister responsible for Maritime Administration, in exercise of the power conferred by sections 93 and 94 of the Merchant Shipping Act 2002, provide for the control of work equipment (any machinery, appliance, apparatus, tool or installation for use at work) on board of ships including fishing vessels. They principally set out duties of employers with respect to such equipment. Duties concern design, maintenance, inspection, use, training, etc. Ships that are not compliant may be detained at a Bermuda port.
