Abstract

These Regulations, made by the Minister responsible for Maritime Administration, in exercise of the power conferred by sections 93 and 94 of the Merchant Shipping Act 2002, provide for the protection of workers in relation with use of lifting equipment on board of on Bermuda ships. An employer shall as far as is reasonably practicable ensure the health and safety of workers when using the lifting equipment. The duties imposed by these Regulations on an employer shall also apply to a self-employed person, in respect of lifting equipment on a ship which he or she provides and uses himself; or provides for use at work by another person (whether self-employed or not). rules are laid down for the installation, marking and use of lifting equipment.
