Abstract

These Regulations, made by the Minister responsible for Maritime Administration, in exercise of the power conferred by sections 93 and 94 of the Merchant Shipping Act 2002, introduce rules for the safety of workers at height (defined) on board of Bermuda ships. In identifying the measures required by this Regulation, the employer shall take into account risk assessment and requirements as prescribed by other specified Regulations. The employer shall take appropriate measures to minimise the risks inherent in the work equipment for work at height. The Regulations also defined duties of workers. When a ship which is not a Bermuda ship is in Bermuda waters, a relevant inspector may inspect that ship to ascertain whether the standards required in relation to Bermuda ships by these Regulations are met in relation to that ship.
