Abstract

Mercantile Marine Code regulates relations originating from mercantile navigation. Mercantile navigation includes the use of vessels for transportation of cargo, fishing vessels, exploration and extraction of minerals, towing and ice-breaking operations and other state, research and cultural operations. The document XI Section that contain 393 Articles. Section I (arts. 1-14) lays down general provisions. Section II (Arts.15-47) concerns vessels. Section III (Arts.48-72) regards crew. Section IV (Arts.73-127) regards seaports. Section V (Arts.128-202) regards transportation by sea. Section VI (Arts.203-221) regards freightage of vessels. Section VII (Arts.222-238) regards sea towing. Section VIII (Arts.239-276) regards sea-insurance. Section IX (Arts.277-347) regards extraordinary situations at sea. Section X (Arts.348-378) regards limitation of the liability of the ship-owner. Section XI (Arts.379-393) regards claims and lawsuits.
