Abstract

These Rules provide for regulation of water supply in the State of Meghalaya. It restricts the use of public water supply to domestic purpose only which does not include water for animals if they are kept for sale or hire. The Rules require registration for private connection of water supply. It provides for connection for bulk water supply and temporary connection for special occasions. The Rules lay down the method for calculation of water charges and format for the water bills. No water connection shall be granted unless drainage arrangements have been made for the disposal of waste water. The Rules provide for grant of plumbing license to a contractor or trader dealing with pipe fittings, etc. if they are a qualified technician.
