Abstract

The present Law lays down provisions relating to water resources and water management in the Land Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The Law is applicable to surface waters and to groundwater in so far they are part of surface waters, as well as to coastal waters. The text consists of 141 articles divided into 14 Parts as follows: Introductory provisions (I); Use and protection of waters; authorization of plants and facilities (II); Classification of waters and property issues of waters (III); Maintenance and extension of surface waters (IV); Ensuring discharge in case of flooding, natural flow of waters (V); Plants and facilities at, in, under and over surface waters (VI); Coasts (VII); Monitoring of waters (VIII); Compulsory right of passage (IX); Compensation proceedings (X); Competence, proceedings (XI); Water resources management, Water Register (XII); Penalties (XIII); Transitional and final provisions (XIV).
